Kenyan Truck Drivers Issue Demands to South Sudan’s Salva Kiir After Security fear.

Kenyan truck drivers have issued demands to South Sudanese President Salva Kiir following a series of security incidents, including the recent killing of several Kenyan drivers in South Sudan. The Kenya Long Distance Truck Drivers Association reported that four of their members were shot dead by South Sudanese law enforcement officers under unclear circumstances, sparking outrage and fear among the trucking community.

In response, Kenyan drivers are demanding improved security measures and justice for those killed. They are also calling for the release of 64 drivers who were detained by South Sudanese authorities during protests against these killings. The association has threatened to stage regional demonstrations if their demands are not met.

The situation has intensified the drivers’ concerns over safety while operating in South Sudan, a key trade route for transporting goods from Mombasa. The Kenyan government is being urged to intervene to ensure the safe return of the detained drivers and to address the broader security challenges faced by truckers in the region.
