Kenyans are facing additional financial burdens under the new SHIF mandatory contributions, particularly concerning cancer treatment.
Men under 40 years will be required to pay for colon cancer screening, while those under 55 years will be required to cover the costs of prostate cancer screening.
Women aged 30-50 years will have their cervical cancer and HPV screening covered, but women outside this age bracket will be required to pay for their own cervical cancer screening.
