Today in Uganda, a group of nude protesters stormed the vicinity of the Ugandan Parliament to protest against corruption.
The protest, which occurred in the afternoon, involved three young women who marched towards the parliamentary building carrying placards and chanting slogans condemning corruption among Members of Parliament. The women, identified as Praise Aloikin, Norah Tshetshe, and Kemitoma Siperia Mollie, stripped naked and painted their bodies with messages in Uganda’s national colors, calling for accountability and demanding the resignation of Parliament Speaker Anita Among.
The protesters were quickly intercepted by security personnel, including plainclothes officers, and arrested on charges of being a common nuisance.
They are currently being held at Kampala Central Police Station.
The protest comes amidst increasing public frustration with corruption scandals in various government sectors, including the recent collapse of the Kiteezi dumpsite that led to the death of over 35 people last month.
