County Government Cleaner Arrested Over Wealth Worthy 615 Millions.

John Koveti Lumula, a government cleaner in Kakamega County, has been arrested by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for allegedly amassing wealth worth Ksh 615 million. Despite his modest role as the head of cleaning services, Lumula owns a private school, West Bridge Elite School, valued at around Ksh 200 million, along with various other assets including hotels, commercial buildings, residential properties, and several high-end vehicles. Investigations revealed that his wealth is believed to have been acquired through corrupt activities, particularly kickbacks from contractors during his previous role in the Procurement Department.

The EACC’s investigation is part of a broader crackdown on public officials with unexplained wealth, as Lumula’s assets far exceed his official earnings.
