Isaac Mwaura, the Kenyan government spokesperson, recently highlighted the significant progress of Kenya Kwanza’s projects in the Mt. Kenya region.
A key initiative is the development of irrigation infrastructure, which aims to address food security and climate resilience. Over Ksh 9 billion has been invested in irrigation projects across the region, such as the Thiba Dam in Kirinyaga, which has expanded irrigated land to 35,000 acres, boosting agricultural productivity and creating numerous jobs.
Additionally, Mwaura inspected the ongoing affordable housing projects in Murang’a. This project, part of the national housing initiative, will provide 220 units, including studio apartments and two- and three-bedroom houses, with plans for further expansion. The project is already benefiting the local economy by employing workers and offering internships to technical students.
