
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has assembled a team of 20 top lawyers to defend him in the ongoing impeachment proceedings. The impeachment motion, backed by 291 MPs, accuses Gachagua of various charges, including money laundering, corruption, amassing property illegally, and violating his oath of office. The proceedings are set to take place on October 8, 2024, with public input scheduled across all 47 counties on October 4, 2024. Gachagua is accused of 11 constitutional violations, and the defense strategy led by his legal team will focus on challenging these allegation1s in parliament.
