STUDENT CHARGED OVER FALSE X APP POST.

A university student, David Oaka Mokaya charged in milimani law court for publishing false information about President William Ruto, Mokaya allegedly shared an image on the social media platform X app showing a funeral processions wuth a casket covered by the Kenyan flag implying it was the president william ruto’s body being transported. The oost included fabricated details to make it appear credible causing public panic.

The charges fall under Kenya’s computer misuse and cyber crimes act which penalizes intentional dissemination of false and misleading information. Though Mokaya pleaded not guilty and was released on Ksh. 100,000 bond or alternative if Ksh. 50,000 cash bail. The case is set for mention on 4th, December, 2024
