Former Seychelles vice president Vincent Meriton has withdrawn from the race for the African Union Commission chairmanship. He cited health concerns as the reasons for stepping down from the contest which is set to conclude during the AU summit in February 2025. Meriton has subsequently endorsed kenyan candidate Raila Odinga expressing admiration for Odinga’s vission and passion for continental leadership.
This development has strengthens Odinga’s position in the race as he continues to rally support from East Africa and other Afrjca nations.
