BCLB Enforces Total Ban on Gambling Advertisements in Kenya.

The Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) has announced a sweeping nationwide ban on all forms of gambling-related advertising. This decision is part of a broader effort to protect the public—especially the youth—from the negative social and economic impacts of gambling.

Effective immediately, the following are strictly prohibited:

TV and Radio Gambling

AdsSocial Media Promotions (including influencer campaigns)

Print Advertising (newspapers, flyers, brochures)

Outdoor Advertising (billboards, matatus, public screens)

Direct Marketing (SMS, email, push notifications)

Celebrity/Influencer Endorsements.

This bold regulatory move marks a significant step toward responsible gambling and public safety in Kenya. Industry stakeholders are expected to comply fully and adjust their marketing strategies accordingly.
