M-Pesa paybill Owners To become KRA tax registers by December 25.

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced that by December 25, 2024, all M-Pesa paybill numbers will be linked to the KRA tax system. This means that businesses and individuals using M-Pesa paybill services will automatically be integrated into the KRA system, allowing KRA to monitor and collect taxes more efficiently.

This move is part of KRA’s broader strategy to expand the tax base and enhance tax compliance by leveraging mobile money transactions. M-Pesa paybill users will need to ensure their tax obligations are in order, as KRA will use the data to assess and enforce tax collection.
