Standard Media Group employees from Radio Maisha, Spice FM, Berur FM and Vybez Radio initiate a go-slow over unpaid wages from June 2023, leaving stations to play music without presenters.

Employees at Standard Media Group’s radio stations, including Radio Maisha, Spice FM, Berur FM, and Vybez Radio, have initiated a go-slow in protest over unpaid wages. This action, starting on July 3, 2024, leaves the stations playing music without any presenters. The employees have not been paid for several months, specifically from June to August 2023 and February to June 2024, prompting their demands for immediate payment of June 2024 salaries and a structured plan to clear the arrears.

The workers have insisted that 30% of the arrears be paid monthly until the total outstanding amounts are settled, threatening to keep all programming off-air until their demands are addressed.
