John Mbadi, Ali Hassan Joho, Wycliffe Oparanya, and Opiyo Wandayi have resigned from their leadership positions in the ODM party following their nominations to President William Ruto’s Cabinet.
This significant development came after President Ruto nominated these key ODM leaders to various cabinet positions as part of a broader government approach.
John Mbadi was nominated as the Cabinet Secretary for the Treasury, Hassan Joho for the Ministry of Mining and Blue Economy, Wycliffe Oparanya for the Ministry of Cooperatives and MSMEs Development, and Opiyo Wandayi for the Ministry of Energy.
ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna had urged them to resign from their party positions to comply with the law prohibiting partisan political affiliations for members of the National Executive.
