Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago and seven others are set to be arrested to face fresh charges in connection to Finland Education scandal.

Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago and seven others are set to face fresh charges related to the Finland Education scandal, which involves the alleged mismanagement of a KSh 1.1 billion scholarship fund.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has gathered new evidence leading to these charges, which include conspiracy to commit economic crimes, abuse of office, and fraudulent acquisition of public property. The EACC’s investigation revealed significant irregularities in payments related to the scholarship program, including KSh 50.7 million paid to local agencies and large cash withdrawals, raising concerns of embezzlement.

The new charges follow a request by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to withdraw an earlier case filed in Nakuru, citing gaps in the initial investigation. The DPP has approved these fresh charges, and the accused, including former county officials, will soon be arraigned in court.
