Kasmuel McOure, a singer-turned-activist, is facing backlash from Kenyans for failing to address the violent attack on fellow activist Morara Kebaso during a recent public event at Bomas of Kenya. While many expected him to condemn the assault on Morara, Kasmuel instead focused on political issues, particularly calling for the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. His omission of any reference to Morara’s situation led to criticism, with some accusing him of aligning with the government and distancing himself from the younger generation he claims to represent.
This has led to accusations of hypocrisy, as Kasmuel was seen by many as avoiding speaking on behalf of the common citizen, focusing instead on political rhetoric aligned with certain politicians.
Morara’s lawyer and other commentators have also labeled him a “sellout” for not addressing the violence against his fellow activist, further intensifying public disapproval.
