Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir recently recorded a statement with the police regarding the abduction and sexual assault of a local blogger. The blogger, who had been critical of Nassir on TikTok, was allegedly kidnapped and assaulted by a group of individuals, including county officials. Governor Nassir, who is considered a person of interest in the case, has strongly denied any involvement, claiming that the accusations against him and his family are politically motivated.

The incident has sparked significant public outrage, with calls from organizations like the Law Society of Kenya for justice to be served. Four individuals have already been charged in connection with the crime. Meanwhile, Nassir’s aide, Mohamed Hussein, who was initially detained, has sought court protection, claiming threats and harassment linked to the investigation.
