US Embassy Issues New Demonstrations Alert for Kenya.

The US Embassy in Kenya has issued a new security alert for American citizens in Nairobi due to ongoing protests over the contentious Finance Bill 2024. The demonstrations, primarily centered around the Parliament area in Nairobi’s Central Business District, have raised concerns about potential violence despite being intended as peaceful events.

The embassy’s alert advises US citizens to avoid large gatherings, monitor local media for updates, and stay away from protest areas to ensure their safety. Additionally, they are urged to carry proper identification, including a current US passport with a valid Kenyan visa, and to have evacuation plans that do not rely on US government assistance.

Traffic disruptions are also expected across the city due to these protests.
