Vybz Kartel, the Jamaican dancehall artist, was yesterday freed from prison after his murder conviction was overturned by the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in London.
This decision was primarily based on juror misconduct during his original trial.
Kartel had been serving a life sentence since 2014 for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams.
The Jamaican Court of Appeal ruled that he and his co-accused, Shawn Campbell, Kahira Jones, and Andre St. John, will not face a retrial.
