We have heard you, call off the protests and wait for action from the government. Deputy Rigathi Gachagua tells youths.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has urged the youth to call off their protests against the Finance Bill 2024. Addressing the situation, Gachagua expressed deep concern over the violence and destruction that have accompanied the demonstrations, which were initially intended to be peaceful. He acknowledged that the protests had been infiltrated by criminals, leading to looting and chaos, and emphasized the need to restore order and safety.

Gachagua assured the youth that their voices have been heard and that President William Ruto has already responded by rejecting the Finance Bill 2024 and promising to implement austerity measures instead. He asked the young protesters to trust the government’s commitment to addressing their concerns and to avoid further violence and loss of life.
